SwissCommunity Having grown up as a Swiss Abroad in Burgundy, Lukas Gretener found himself caught between two worlds for a long time: in France, he was “le Suisse”; in Switzerland, “the Frenchman”. At the age of 18, he decided to return to Switzerland to begin a carpentry apprenticeship. In the process, he learned a trade and discovered his passion for wood as a material. After several years of professional experience, the next step was a degree in wood technology at the Bern University of Applied Sciences. There, he learned to design and develop structural systems, buildings, furniture, and wood-based products and processes. Today, Gretener works in Berne as an engineer with a Bachelor of Science degree in wood technology. We wish him a continued speedy recovery. However, the OSA Executive Board – in its capacity as publisher of the “Swiss Review” – has decided to seek a successor for this crucial role. Communication is fundamental to our organisation, and the “Swiss Review” is its main channel. The search for a suitable successor will, however, take some time. Thanks to the tremendous support of several individuals, the October issue was produced despite the difficult staffing situation. We would like to thank everyone involved most sincerely for their extraordinary commitment. However, this interim solution cannot be continued for the forthcoming issue, and a short-term alternative that could ensure the necessary editorial quality and accountability is not currently available. The editorial meeting for the December issue was due to take place on 10 September and was initially postponed due to this situation. After carefully examining the options, the majority of the Executive Board has now decided, with a heavy heart, to cancel the planned December issue. We deeply regret this extraordinary step and ask our loyal readers for their understanding. At the same time, we are working flat out to put in place the staffing arrangements necessary for the future of the “Swiss Review”. We would like to wish you a happy New Year already and look forward to continuing the “Swiss Review” with renewed vigour as soon as possible.
